I was needing a small ducted unit for a shipping container build. I have never installed a mini split before but very competent. I watched some videos and read instructions several times before the rental kit arrived. It went pretty smoothly I thought for my first time and so far the unit has been working good. My only complaint was the rental tools arrived late causing a delay in the job. I ordered on a Monday with expected delivery the following Monday. Well I did not receive it until Wednesday. I used it that day and return shipped it the next day. Had it maybe 24 hours. The description does not clarify if shipping times is included in the time rental. I believe the rental time should be based off of when it was received and not when it was ordered because it took 9 days before it arrived.
The kit is a wonderful idea for DIY. Unfortunately, the sight glass on the pump I received was broken when I removed it from box. I didn’t realize it until I had a puddle of oil on my table. I had to go rent an automotive pump to replace it.
Other than the shipping mix up, great product.
The kit had everything you needed for the install. Even with the torque wrench, I would still start on the lower end of the recommended torque to prevent over tightening and go from there.
Della is a great company to work with. I purchased a 5 zone mini split with ceiling cassettes and took my time installing it according to the instructions and with the Della supplied rental kit. Whenever I had questions along the way Della representatives and technical support operators would either answer the call or if busy would call me back to assist. Once the install was done I was pleased with its quiet efficient operation. I highly recommend Della for their products and their support and im confident that should a problem arise, Della will be there to assist just as they have been through the DIY install.
The rental kit had all the correct tools needed to follow the installation instructions. The split unit works great and is a terrific upgrade to my garage.
The install was straight forward. This was my first mini split install. The directions were good and made it difficult to install wrong. The rental kit was a big help with tube inserts to prevent kinking the line set. I will change out the condensate drains for pvc.
Easy installation of evaporator and condenser. Worked out between 2 buildings allowing 16 ft ac lines to be installed without rolling up extra length of lines. Used vacuum pump rental and all went correctly. Cools great, and heater functions great.
I was very worried about leaks. After toquing the fittings and filled with trepidation, I opened the valves. It worked out fine and passed the soapy water test.
Hi, I am first time using that kind of tools. I think is easy handing I get the very good direction how use. So all installation is perfect. I like it.
Everything was brand new when I received my install kit, and it was very easy to complete my installation! I plan on keeping mine instead of returning it because I'm going to install another one! Great job Della!
If you are considering a DIY mini split I 100% recommend renting the DIY kit. I’ve never done a project like this and the DIY kit made this so much easier to complete.
Della Mini split with cassette was easy to install and the rental equipment was like new and worked very well. This is my first experience with Della and so far everything is working well. The instructions with the rental equipment could have a little more detail for the average homeowner. I am still giving 5 stars since all of the rental equipment worked so well.
The rental tools for the Della Mini split were really good - I could not have completed the install without them.
I did have a little trouble in that the adaptor for the vacuum line was attached to the vacuum pump inlet, which I did not notice until deciding I was missing a part and leaving the job for the day. After wracking my brain and closer examination, I found the adaptor and the install went very quickly the next day.
I do see in the picture that two vials of vacuum oil is the normal makeup of the kit. I only received one and it barely covered the minimum line on the pump.
The rental kit was beyond helpful!! The included instructions and technical videos made this a breeze (pun intended). Absolutely wonderful experience with Della I highly recommend them!! They even gave me a courtesy call before the rental period ended to make sure I didn’t have any issues or concerns.
This is my 4th Mini Split install. But by having the Della Install kit, this make the install much easier, Faster and increased confidence of the finished job. The included tubing bending kit made the tubing bends and chance of kinking the tubing non existant. The Vacuum pump was flawless, just add the included oil and ready to go.
Then the digital gauge. Much better the the regular analog gauge set I have. Turn the gauge on and it defaults to the correct range, Ready to start vacuuming.
This set also includes 2 sizes of too;s to properly remove the Scharder valve on the outside unit, this allows for a faster vacuuming of the system, The tool I have presses on the valve simialer to filling an auto tire, This slightly restricts (Vacuum) flow to the pump increasing vacuum time and chances of leaking during vacuuming and when removing fitting. This valve tool is a must. Best part of it all it's all furnished by Della For 7 days rental and return shipping is Prepaid. Mine went easy and great system works as expected. Then do it correctly and document everything and your install may include a Lifetime Della warrenty. Nuff Said .
I had a handyman do the actual job because of the. Codes. Here. The there’s a small part in the installation was kind of tricky so he called for help and he said it was very easy to call in and get the help immediately and everything went smooth so so as smooth as silk. Thank you so much for sending me the unit and I hope to see my return fee come back. P
Using the rental kit went fairly smoothly. I didn’t like the install video recommended on the Della website, but I found another video online where the installer used the rental kit. Would’ve been nice to have a step by step video showing the correct way to connect the vacuum pump but I figured it out after watching the video numerous times. Otherwise install went smooth.
The DIY kit worked well other than the torque wrench seems to be out of calibration every time I tried to torque it to spec it completely crushed the flare from the end of the copper tube. As I own several different torque wrenches and crows foot adaptors I was able to torque the lines using my own wrenches.
Includes everything to do your install except common hand tools. I cut my line set to size and flared the ends to clean up the install. The 24k Della unit heats and cools MUCH better than my Mr. Cool 18k did.
